On February 10, 2015, GF&M Director Thomas Mammarella jointly presented a talk on “Protecting Your Escrow Accounts” as part of the Fundamentals of Real Estate 2015 seminar.  The seminar was given at the Offices of the Delaware State Bar Association.

Gordon, Fournaris & Mammarella’s Jeffrey K. Simpson Spoke on Rental Vs. Owned Captives at the Strategic Risk Solutions’ Partner Workshop in Atlanta.

Jeffrey K. Simpson, a Director at Wilmington law firm Gordon, Fournaris & Mammarella, P.A., was quoted recently as an expert source for an article on the rise of small captive insurance companies in The Self-Insurer, the official publication of the Self Insurance Institute of America (SIIA). 

Delaware Captive Insurance Association

The Delaware Captive Insurance Association held their mid-year forum May 12-13, 2014 at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington, Delaware.

Andrew Rennick spoke on Policy Writing for Private Enterprise Risk Captives. He discussed how a critical part of the planning process in the formation of Private Enterprise Risk Captives (also known as 831b captives or micro-captives) is how to structure the actual policies of insurance.

The Hon. E. Norman Veasey, Retired Chief Justice, Delaware Supreme Court, and Special Counsel, Gordon, Fournaris & Mammarella, was interviewed for the May issue of Metropolitan Corporate Counsel. Veasey discusses his past experience as a neutral in complex commercial disputes, his current work as a mediator and how research for his book "Indispensable Counsel: The Chief Legal Officer in the New Reality" has helped him in his practice as an arbitrator. 

GF&M director Thomas Mammarella will be speaking at an upcoming seminar, “Short Topics in Real Estate 2014,” sponsored by the Real and Personal Property Section of the Delaware State Bar Association. His presentation will focus on basic rules and planning considerations related to the discharge of indebtedness income.

Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners

The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) held their 10th Annual International Estate Planning Institute March 13-14 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in New York.

American College of Trust and Estate Counsel

Michael Gordon was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) on March 10, 2014 at the ACTEC annual meeting held in Tucson, Ariz. ACTEC is a national organization of approximately 2,600 lawyers elected to membership by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors.
