Michael Gordon speaks at the Southern Delaware Estate Planning Council

On Thursday March 8th, GF&M's Michael Gordon was invited to speak at the board meeting of the Southern Delaware Estate Planning Council. The event was held at the Sussex Pines Country Club in Georgetown, DE.

A typical estate plan often includes the use of one or more irrevocable trusts. Trust law has greatly changed over time and the terms of an existing irrevocable trust agreement may lack the flexibility necessary to adjust to unforeseeable changes in law or other circumstances which may no longer satisfy the grantor’s intent. Michael's topic of discussion at the Board Meeting centered around the decanting statutes of various states and how they may be used to modify the terms of an irrevocable trust.
